Our CEREC® workflow brings digital scanning, restorative design and ceramic manufacture together within the practice.

For suitable cases, your restoration can be designed, made and fitted during one coordinated appointment—often without conventional impressions, temporary restorations or a separate fitting visit.

Same-day dentistry is not about rushing treatment. It gives us direct control over the design, fit and finish of your restoration. Where a complex case would benefit from additional planning or the work of a dental laboratory, we will recommend the more appropriate route.

THE PROCESS

From digital scan to finished restoration.

01 · Assessment

We assess the tooth, your bite and the surrounding tissues before discussing the appropriate restorative options, benefits and limitations.

02 · Preparation and scanning

The tooth is prepared as conservatively as the clinical situation allows. A digital scan then records the prepared tooth, neighbouring teeth and bite.

03 · Digital design

Your crown, veneer, inlay or onlay is designed digitally. Particular attention is given to proportion, contact points, appearance and how the restoration functions within your bite.

04 · In-practice manufacture

The restoration is milled from a carefully selected ceramic. It may then be polished, characterised, stained or fired to achieve the desired finish.

05 · Try-in and fitting

The fit, appearance and bite are assessed before the restoration is securely bonded or cemented into position.

06 · Aftercare

We will explain how to care for your restoration and whether any review is required. Patients should continue routine examinations and preventive care with their regular general dentist.

A digitally designed ceramic restoration was used to rebuild the damaged tooth. Its shape, shade and surface character were refined to sit naturally alongside the neighbouring teeth while restoring comfortable function.

What restorations can be made in one visit?

Depending on the clinical circumstances, we may be able to provide ceramic crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays using the same-day workflow. Some restorations and more complex treatments will still require dental laboratory stages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is every patient suitable for same-day treatment?

No. Suitability depends on the condition of the tooth, the bite, the number of restorations required, material selection and the aesthetic demands of the case. We will recommend whichever approach is most appropriate—not simply the fastest.

What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?

A crown covers and rebuilds most or all of the visible tooth. A veneer is a thinner restoration applied primarily to the front surface. The correct option depends on the amount of healthy tooth remaining, your bite and the intended result.

Will my tooth need to be prepared?

Crowns and veneers usually require some preparation of the natural tooth, although the amount varies considerably. This treatment is generally irreversible, so its implications and any suitable alternatives will be discussed before you decide to proceed.

Will I need conventional impressions?

Most suitable cases can be recorded with a digital scanner. Occasionally, a conventional impression may still be advisable.

How long will the appointment take?

Same-day treatment requires a longer appointment so that the tooth can be prepared and the restoration designed, manufactured and fitted. The precise duration varies according to the individual restoration and clinical complexity.

How long will the restoration last?

No dental restoration can be guaranteed for life. Longevity is influenced by the health of the underlying tooth, oral hygiene, bite forces, diet and regular professional care. Ceramic restorations may eventually chip, wear, debond or require replacement.

Do I still need a regular dentist?

Yes. Market Cross Dental provides focused restorative and implant care. Patients should remain registered with a general dental practitioner for routine examinations, preventive care and emergency treatment.
