Full-arch implant treatment replaces all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw with a fixed bridge supported by dental implants. Every case is planned around the patient’s face, bite, speech and individual smile—not a standard set of teeth.
All-on-X describes a complete bridge supported by the number of implants appropriate for the individual patient—commonly four to six implants. The exact number and position are determined after clinical assessment and 3D planning.
Where conditions are suitable, a fixed provisional bridge may be fitted on the day the implants are placed. This cannot be guaranteed before treatment and an alternative temporary restoration may occasionally be required.

For suitable All-on-X cases, digital scans and 3D imaging are combined to plan the position, angle and depth of each implant before surgery. A custom surgical guide can then be produced to help transfer this plan accurately to the mouth.
Guided surgery supports a coordinated approach between implant placement and the design of the provisional bridge. It may also allow treatment to be performed more efficiently, although its suitability depends on the patient’s anatomy and clinical circumstances.

In suitable cases, a fixed provisional bridge may be fitted on the day of implant placement. This depends on implant stability, available bone and the wider clinical circumstances.
Usually not. The first bridge is normally provisional and is used during healing. The definitive bridge is made later, once the implants and surrounding tissues are stable.
